Award Winning Author and patient advocate, Charlotte Libov!

Today on the Social Scene we get inspired by the fabulous award winning author and patient advocate, Charlotte Libov!

Originally from CT, Charlotte started as a pioneer in bringing attention to the problem of heart disease in women.

What inspired you to write the book Cancer Survival Guide?

When someone hears the words “you have cancer,” they tend to be so shocked they can’t think. But surviving cancer can depend on making the correct decisions right from the start. Since, as a health writer, I had access to the top experts, I decided to write a book that would tell, in simple and clear language, what you should do if this happens to you.

How did you know you wanted to become author?

"I knew I wanted to become a newspaper reporter when I was about 15 years old. I accomplished that goal and worked for several New England newspapers before becoming a New York Times freelance contributor. Several years ago, I had to undergo open-heart surgery to correct a life-threatening congenital defect, which had gone undiscovered my entire life. That led me to my mission to write my first book, “The Woman’s Heart Book,” to raise women’s awareness of this threat to their health, and I’ve been writing books and speaking on such issues ever since."

Charlotte really has so much to offer to not only the patient but also the caregivers in her new cancer survival guide.

Libov interviews people that have experienced cancer first hand whether they are the patient , doctor and or care giver. What is better then first hand advice rather then constantly searching for answers online.
