NEXTonSCENE Documentary to know about!

April 11, 2018

Today on the NEXTonSCENE podcast we get inspired by the talented Dr. William "Smitty" Smith the first live production on WGBH in Boston at 9pm this Thursday April 12th and then nationwide on public television in the Fall.

We had a lot of fun and got really inspired learning about Smitty and how "An American Story: Race Amity and The Other Tradition" came about.

Smitty is  part of the The National Center for Race Amity (NCRA)  which was established in January 2010.

"Racism never went away from our communities but now more than ever it’s an issue back
in our hearts, on our minds and in our newsfeeds with a renewed vigor across the globe."

Now, from the National Center for Race Amity (NCRA) comes the documentary, An American Story: Race Amity and The Other Tradition which shows a path
forward that’s steeped in friendship rather than blame and anger.

" NCRA is based at Wheelock College in Boston, MA  and received its founding grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. A sustainable organization, NCRA’s programs generate income to support itself and its programs. The National Center for Race Amity has several initiatives:
expanded distribution of the non-toxic race dialogue board game, Breaking It Down Towards E Pluribus Unum, which allows everyday Americans to engage in meaningful dialogue on race through a process based approach centered on relationship building, while approaching difficult race relations questions, with secondary and post-secondary game editions; development of theater based race amity education programs targeting middle school students; impacting the public discourse on race through the annual National Race Amity Conference and other events and forums, and organizing the Towards E Pluribus Unum initiative which seeks to establish National Race Amity Day."

We had a lot of fun getting to know Smitty on a personal level as well and got to play some fun game time that you will ONLY get to learn by tuning in NOW by clicking on one of the podcast tabs below:
